This is a guest post from Amy Kris, she is pregnancy coach and author of pregnancycoach-amy.com.

Many couples have difficulty getting pregnant despite of all kinds of fertility enhancers available nowadays. Maybe this is because of poor diet and exercise. Yes not all infertile couples have reproductive problems because some of them just don’t know the right diet for fertility and proper exercise that can increase the chances of getting pregnant.

There are a lot of things that can affect fertility but the right daily exercise and good fertility diet can also enhance a couple’s chance of conceiving. These things can also make a woman achieve a healthy full term when done properly. Check out some of these simple tips that can improve a woman’s fertility:

Proper Exercise

Too much exercise and lack of it can affect a woman’s fertility. So it is good for you to know proper and moderate exercises that can enhance your fertility. It is known that exercise can lose all the unhealthy fats we have and will help in maintaining the proper level of hormones needed for us to become healthy.

Some of the most advisable exercises that can improve a women’s fertility include yoga and meditation, swimming, cycling and walking. These exercises can be very advantageous for women who want to get pregnant, can remove stress and of course fun! So indulge in these exercises while you’re trying to conceive but remember not to overdo it. Undue amount of exercise can affect a woman’s period and level of leutenizing hormones that are indeed beneficial for pregnancy.

Suitable Fertility Diet

It will be beneficial for women who want to get pregnant to have a healthy diet. It can aid in having an ideal environment for babies when their labor is a success. It can also help in balancing the necessary hormones for the woman’s body that is perfect for conception. It will also keep and maintain your healthy weight. There are many “diet for fertility” foods that can assist women to improve their chances of conception.

a.Avoid processed foods – It is a known fact that processed foods can affect the body’s hormones. So it is ideal to avoid process foods when you want to get pregnant.

b.Eat fruits and vegetables – To enhance the reproductive system, women should eat a lot of fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamins and minerals.

c.Choose organic foods – Lots of fruits, vegetables and meat these days are grown with the help of pesticides, herbicides and other harmful elements. These things can nullify the nutrients that you can found on these foods. So as much as possible, look for organically grown foods in the market. They are quiet expensive but it’s worth it.

d.Fat is essential in the diet to increase fertility. Without it, the body’s systems will not operate normally. But keep in mind that some sources of fat are better than others and too much fat has adverse effects on the body. The same holds true for carbohydrates and protein. A reasonable fertility diet will include each of these in proper amounts, along with other important nutrients.

e.Intake of multivitamins is also recommended. Even the healthiest and most varied diet won’t essentially supply all of the vitamins and minerals that the body needs, so it is vital to ask your doctor on what kind of multivitamins can supplement your needs.

Eating the right foods, enough exercise and a healthy mind and body are important to enhance a woman’s fertility as well as overall health. Before losing hope it is always better to examine your standard of living first and the necessary changes to boost your chances of fulfilling your dreams to get pregnant.

Abdominal exercises are the most demanded. Everybody wants flat stomach . I don’t like crunches, although they have place in abdominal workout.

Below you can see pictures of my favorite core exercises along with explanation how to properly do them.

Have in mind that doing only abs exercises will not cause burning stomach fat. You need to combine exercises for whole body with a healthy diet and this is the only way to burn fat.

Happy belly exercising

plunk exercises

Plank. This is very powerful exercise and it is difficult for beginners. Plank is good also for your back, buttocks and arms. This is a compound exercise that works several large muscle groups at once. Try to hold for 30-60 seconds, beginners hold as long as they can, 5 seconds is good for beginning.

How to do plank: Start on your stomach with your hands placed in a prayer position, making sure that your shoulders are in line with your elbows. Keeping your hips tight, your glutes (buttocks) contracted and your back straight, lift your body up so that you are supporting your body weight on your elbows and toes.

Maintain this position for desired length of time or until the back begins to strain and your hips begin to sag.

Side Plank

Side Plank. Strengthens the abdominal and lower back muscles.

How to do Side plank: Start by laying on your side with your legs bent and your arm placed squarely underneath you. Lift your body up maintaining a solid bridge while supporting your body weight on your one knee and forearm.

Hold this position for desired length of time or until your hips begin to sag and you can no longer maintain a solid bridge. Rest and repeat 10 times, 10 series. 1 series contains 10 repetitions.

Moving Plank

Moving Plank. This is the advanced execution of Plank. Do it when you are used to the static plank.

How to do moving plank: Start on your stomach with your hands placed in a prayer position, making sure that your shoulders are in line with your elbows. Keeping your hips tight, your glutes contracted and your back straight, lift your body up so that you are supporting your body weight on your elbows and toes.

Lift one arm to the ceiling and turn the body aside, hold this position for a second and return arm on the ground. Repeat by lifting the other arm.

Body Leg Lift

Body Leg Lift. This is fabulous stomach exercise, because it builds your core and lower abs along with balance. It may feel difficult when you start but the results deserve your persistence.

How to perform Body Leg Lift: Start by lying on your back with your arms and legs fully extended. Curl your shoulders off of the floor and reach for your toes. At the same time, lift both heels off of the ground, squeezing your abdominals.

Hold the position for three seconds. Remember to try and create a “V” with your body and keep the small of your back pressed against the floor. Relax and lower your body back to the starting position and repeat the action.

Leg Push

Leg Push. This exercise targets the stomach muscles, especially lower abdominal. It is very good for beginners.

How to do Leg push: Start by lying on your back with arms fully extended. Bend legs and lift them. Now start pushing the legs forward until fully strengthen them, hold for a second and bend knees.

Double Leg Drops

Double Leg Drops. This exercise targets the lower abs. You need to develop strength in your stomach before starting with this exercise. The problem here is that you may arch your back instead of keeping it firmly on the floor.

This happens when your abs don’t have enough strength and you try to compensate the movement with other musles.

How to do Double Leg Drops: Start on your back with both feet raised and your hands placed at the side of your body or under your buttocks if you are a beginner. While exhaling, slowly lower both legs down to the floor (don’t touch it) keeping your core engaged throughout the entire range of motion. Lift both legs back up to the starting position.

Abdominal Hip Raises

Abdominal Hip Raises. You can start slowly with this exercise and not push too much. It works your tummy.

How to do Abdominal Hip Raises: Start on your back with both legs in the air and your hands placed at the side of your body or under hips. Lift your hips off the floor and drive your feet straight up towards the ceiling using your upper abs.

Lower your body back down until your tailbone softy touches the floor.

You can find more abdominal exercises and non conventional explanation of stomach fat here (there are different sections for men and women).

Pregnancy is one of the happiest and most exciting times in a woman’s life. For the first time, she is responsible not only for herself and her own health, but that of her unborn baby.

It is essential to follow a proper and healthy diet during pregnancy, and although there is a lot of information available about what a woman should eat during pregnancy, there is not always a lot of information of what foods to avoid during pregnancy.

Although most foods are fine and healthy to consume during pregnancy, there are a few that should be avoided until after the healthy new baby is born.

Here are some of the foods that could pose potential harm to your unborn child if consumed during pregnancy.

Deli meats could pose a threat due to bacteria (listeria).

Raw Meats should be completely avoided during pregnancy.

Fish with Mercury. Avoid all together during pregnancy.

Smoked Seafood could have potentially harmful bacteria.

Fish Exposed to Industrial Pollutants Harmful chemicals could pose a threat.

Raw Shellfish should be completely avoided during pregnancy.

Raw eggs could pose the threat of salmonella.

Soft Cheeses. Potential for harmful bacteria.

Unpasterurized Milk. Bacteria could exist that could be unsafe.

Pate. They may contain a bacterium that is unsafe.

Caffeine. Avoid all caffeine, even trace amounts.

Alcohol. Avoid all alcohol, no matter what the amount.

Unwashed Vegetables. Make sure any vegetables consumed are properly washed and handled.

Although some of those foods do not pose as great of threat as others, the potential does exist. The risks posed by those foods vary from potentially fatal reactions to the fetus, to minor problems during birth or pregnancy, but doctors advise staying clear of all of them to avoid the risks to your baby and your pregnancy.

Usually people rush to follow low calorie diet plan and at the first day they are very enthusiastic. Next day they the think “Well, it is becoming harder”. On the third day situation is clear that the diet is too drastic and hard to follow and on the forth day everything end.

Achievable goals are the key to successful weight loss. If you felt to follow several diets probably you are not a person who needs to do it.

Set up an easy, achievable goal, like:

Cut all soda and soft drinks, drink only water and tea. See how you feel for a week, track your progress. You feel some weight loss results, not so big but this will give you confidence to set up more difficult goals.

Next say “I will cut all junk food” – do it for couple of days or for a week and again track your progress.

Or say “I will have more vegetables in my meals”. Try to have a salad with every meal. This will increase the amount of fiber you consume and fiber is famous or lowering appetite and the amount of calories that the body absorbs.

Another easy goal is to cut sweets or to cut bread. Diet lifestyle change will bring long lasting weight loss and this is more important then losing weight for a week and than get back to your old eating habits.

I am not against low calorie diet plans; on the contrary I’ve created many diet plans that actually work. But the main idea is that people are different and if you can’t follow strict diet plan, than consider a small change in your nutrition in order to get confidence that you can lose weight.

I get tones of emails about diet plans for teens. I don’t answer teens personally because my understanding is that they need to speak with their parents not to a strange in Internet (aka me). Anyway, I decide to share my personal opinion what should be a good diet plan for a teenager.

The first thing that needs consideration is that teens spend/need more energy compared to an adult person. Or this was true 10 years ago, when computers were not so spread and teens didn’t tent to sit for a long time playing games or chatting.

I will assume that a teenager is more active person who grows and needs a little bit more energy to sustain life. Diet plans for teens can’t be very restrictive in calories; they need to be restrictive by the type of foods but not by calories.

We all know that junk food is not good for the health and you can gain weight if you eat it regularly.

1. It is a cliché but stop eating junk food and you should see quick results and you will start to lose weight immediately.

2. Stop drinking soda.

3. Stop eating sweets more than twice per week.

Follow just these 3 steps and you should see fats weight loss.

Activity is important. Consider sport activity once or twice per week – this will speed your metabolism and combined with above 3 steps is like a fat eraser.

You don’t need diet plans for teens – just don’t eat and drink junk things and consider some activity – it is so simple!

But if you insist here is a good diet for teens.

Recently I’ve traveled to New York and Houston (I live in Sofia, Bulgaria) and was shocked by the number of people who eat in the fast food shops. I was amazed why people prefer to eat in fast food restaurants than in other restaurants. A friend of mine (She is Bulgarian, like me, but lives in New York from 8 years) told me that fast food is cheaper. She gave me an example that a 4 member family could have a dinner in a fast food restaurant for under $30 and if they go to “normal” restaurant they have to pay at least $100.

I can agree that fast food restaurants are cheaper than other (healthier) restaurants, bit I can not agree that you can not eat healthy without spending a fortune.

Prices of food in the big chain shops are very reasonable and you can shop a tone of healthy food and this will not cost more than $300-$400 per month for 4 member family.

Here is a good article how to buy healthy food on a budget.

Probably the problem is not in the price of food but in laziness. If you cook at home you need to devote from 30 to 60 minutes per day in the kitchen and people don’t like this. Probably if you look at this time like an investment in your health and at the same time you save money in your bank account (because you don’t spent for restaurants) this could raise your motivation.

On 29th of July 2008, Los Angeles City Council agreed to ban the launching of new fast food shops in South Los Angeles for a year. The reason for this decision is the hope that for this one year the other (non fast food) restaurants will have time to grow and pull the clients from the part of the city where child obesity is 30%. Read the whole story.

I like this, although it is not democratic, sometimes such steps are necessary.

“Hey Rumi! I was wondering if you could tell me the best way to get rid of cellulite. I’m pretty happy with the rest of my body but I just hate my cellulite. I don’t understand why some women have it and others don’t. Am I just unlucky or is there something I can do to make this better?

I do your workout videos for 40 mins 5 days a week and the anti-cellulite is included…once a week. I eat quite healthy – 3 healthy meals a day, although I have to admit, I have a sweet tooth!

I weigh 119lbs and am looking to get down to about 111lbs. However, I have already been at 111lbs before and I still have this awful cellulite!! What can I do about it?”

Hi Anna,

I have great news for your. I am working on a project dedicated especially and only to cellulite. It will include anti cellulite diet, many video exercises to melt cellulite along with helpful articles and resources for anti cellulite creams that works and you can test them for free. Probably in a couple of months I will announce it. Till then, take following steps to change your diet:

Cellulite sin foods and drinks – eliminate them:

Bread

Coffee

Sugar – cakes, pudding, chocolate

Fast food

Alcohol

Fat meat

Foods and drinks that help to remove cellulite – eat them often:

Lean meat

Fish

Water

Vegetables

Tea

Add some massage

When you have shower, massage vigorously your hips and buttocks. Put some shower gel on your hands, make some lather and apply to your legs, hips and buttocks with vigorous massage. Massage as long as you like it. This will improve the blood circulation and you can see results after 2 weeks. I like to make massage myself with anti cellulite product while I am watching TV. Just lift your legs on a chair, so it will be easy to massage them. You can use any body lotion or anti cellulite product you want, because the skin is more slippery and easy to massage.

Please, post in the comments below your diet, because I think probably this is the reason you can’t successfully treat cellulite. I will try to think of a good diet for you.

All the best,

“Hello, I was wondering what is a healthy amount of weight to lose in 3 weeks? I have had a constant battle with managing my weight loss. Tending to go to the extremes and over do myself.

I’m trying to take a new healthier approach, and do not want to do myself any harm. I am 16, about 5″6 and 125 pounds. I’m an active girl in both basketball and football. I do yoga 5-6 times a week.

I vary my workout plan with skipping, running, walking and core work. My eating habits consist of overall healthy food. My parents are big on eating organic foods.

I do tend to over enjoy my sweets. However my thighs and lower stomach are problematic areas for me.

How do I slim upper thighs, and tone my lower abs?

Willow”

Hi Willow,

Congratulations on your healthy approach to keeping yourself in shape! You’re right – going to extremes is not recommended for anyone, and as you’ll no doubt be aware, when you’re a teen, you’ve got to look after yourself that little bit more! Here’s what I would suggest for you to do:

Add to your usual workouts abs exercises (I point you to my core workout site, where I publish pics how to properly do exercises) – don’t do only lower abs (which you define as problematic), do also upper and side abs exercises.

Add thigh exercises – front thigh exercises, inner thigh exercises and back thigh exercises.

To answer your question about healthy weight loss: it is 2 pounds per week, but probably you don’t need this, but some exercises. You are in the age where you are constantly looking for perfection, but be careful to not harm your self – don’t be afraid of asking your parents for advice too, because they know what is best for you.

I wish you nice looking abs and thigh

All the best,

“Hi Rumi, your site is really helpful. The best I liked about it are those 20 min workout which you can fit into your routine anywhere anytime…..but my question to you is “If I am already doing cardio in the Gym and want to include workout for arms, is it ok to just include the exercises as the body is already warm up or I should be doing the warm up as well???

Also I wanna know if I buy your workout videos can those be shipped to me in my country India…if so how would the costs be affected? Thanks and keep up the good work.

Preeti”

Hi Preeti,

Thank you for your nice letter

Cardio is one of the best ways to warm up the body. The reason for this is that you start with some pace and slightly increase it after your body adapts to the effort. For example I love treadmill as cardio because:

It gives you control on the speed from the beginning to the end of the warm up. You can start at very slow speed and slightly increase the sped every 2-3 minutes in order to give the body the chance to adapt to the speed and even asks for more lol

You can warm up not only your legs (it is obvious legs are the most involved in treadmill cardio), but also your arms, abs, back and buttocks muscles. How this happens? While you walking on the treadmill (I don’t recommend running, fast walking is better) you can move your arms forward-backward and even try to tighten them. The same with your abs – tighten them, but this will happen even without effort of you because abs are responsible for the overall posture of the body and they tighten while you walk or run. And not on the last place – buttocks – walking and running is the best exercise for them too.

You burn fat – we all beg for this lol

Long story short – you don’t need to warm up after cardio in order to do exercises.

About ordering my exercise DVDs, the shipment is included in the price of $40. I use regular post and it will take from 1 to 3 weeks to come to India (can’t predict the speed of the post services, sometimes they are really fast, sometimes it takes very long to receive the DVD’s).

Until DVDs come, you can workout using my online version of exercise videos.
